Open-source apps · on your own computer

Apps that adapt to you.

Open-source apps that run on a computer you already own, share what they know with each other, and can be rewritten by your own AI to fit how you live.

Runs on a Mac or Linux computer that stays on — a Mac mini is ideal, an old laptop works. Works with your Claude or ChatGPT plan. Early access is free.

Today read 9 apps · just now

Every app you use was built for a million people. None of them were built just for you.

Your meal planner doesn’t know you trained today. Your budget doesn’t know what the grocery list costs. And when an app doesn’t fit the way you live, you either work around it or leave.

Your version

Most apps let you pick a colour. Ion lets you change the app.

Tell your AI what you’d do differently, in plain language. It rewrites the app on a private draft, you try it out, and you keep it if you like it.

At launch, updates keep your changes: new versions are merged with yours, and you preview before anything changes.

Want more than a change? Build your own app →

  • Apps that know each other

Install a second app and the first one gets smarter. You approve every connection, and every read is logged.

  • The AI you already pay for

Ion runs Claude Code or Codex with your own plan: when you ask, and in the background for apps you allow.

  • On every screen you use

iPhone, iPad, Mac, or any browser. Your watch taps you when something needs you.

For your household. And your business.

The same library works at home and at work, and you can share any app by email with the people who need it.

Household

  • Recipes

Plan the week’s meals and send the list to Grocery.

  • Grocery

One list for the week, built from what you’re cooking.

  • Calories

A daily target that moves with your training.

  • Training

    Workouts, sets and personal records.

Business

  • Ledger

Invoices, payouts and expenses, and who still owes you.

  • Pipeline

Deals and follow-ups. Your AI drafts the nudges; nothing is sent without you.

  • Reel

Cut and caption video on your own computer.

  • Board

Boards for a small team, on the same tasks as Tasks.

The Business folder on an iPhone, and Pipeline open on an iPad, shared by email with Sam, a contractor who never installed anything.

What is Ion?

Ion is a self-hosted app library whose open-source apps share one context, work with your Claude or ChatGPT plan, and can be rewritten by your AI to fit you.

What computer do I need?

Any Mac or Linux computer that can stay on, such as a Mac mini or an old laptop. Setup is guided, and you don’t need a domain to get started.

Does Ion include AI?

No. Ion runs Claude Code or Codex on your own machine, signed in with your own plan or API key. Your usage comes from your own plan and is subject to its limits. That includes background use by apps you’ve allowed.

Does my AI run in the background?

Only for apps you allow. Some apps, like Pipeline, can use your AI in the background. You can see which ones do and switch it off for any app. Background use counts toward your plan’s limits.

How much does it cost?

Pricing hasn’t been announced yet. Joining early access through the waitlist costs nothing.

Can I use Ion for my business?

Yes. The launch library includes Ledger for invoices and expenses, Pipeline for deals and follow-ups, Board for kanban boards and Reel for video, and you can share any app with a teammate by email.
